It’s been a long day on Clubhouse. DMX is on life support, and several rooms popped up this week to provide support. Everyone’s talking about money, and it feels like NFTs are everywhere.

A mid-day slowdown made things a bit crazy, and the app is averaging at least one server issue per week these days.

Tonight’s highlight ended up being a room from The God Club, which is a hilarious social media parody who sounds exactly like Seth Rogen. While hanging out on stage with him, I got to see several prominent people come by, including TIME CEO Keith Grossman.

Grossman was speechless, so I provided some context. TIME recently launched NFT covers, and an “Is God Dead?” cover from 1966 was the first. From there, Grossman told several great stories. We even got an encore performance from Black Pavarotti.

Clubhouse in 2025

Clubhouse is going through changes, and money is the root of all evil. That’s the general echoing of the multiple rooms about monetization in the hallways this week. Everyone from Twitter to Facebook, LinkedIn, Spotify, and more have been rumored to have offered up to $6 billion for the buzzy app.

But creator monetization is what really set up a strange set of conversations. I know we’re all tired of hearing about it by this point, but it’s important to watch the money. It’ll ultimately determine the direction of the app.

Even if you don’t like the well-produced shows and interesting discussions I highlight, they’re what will ultimately support the social rooms. And don’t forget tipping is just the tip of the iceberg — paying mod salaries, audience member prizes, and more is possible.

It makes you wonder where Clubhouse will be in 2025…instead of writing a blog post on it, I invite your ideas while I watch the market.

Yesterday’s Best Convo

A Night With Limmie Pulliam & Friends LIVE on CH Opera. Loomis Rhodes Group and Chauncey Bell brought The Black Pavarotti, Limmi Pulliam, to Clubhouse for a night at the opera. It’s not often you hear about a black man making it in the music industry through opera, and Pulliam lives up to his name, bringing a gorgeous tenor voice to the stage that entranced everyone on stage. It’s the most enriching cultural experience of the week and held over 500 people’s attention consistently for an hour with over 1500 people hearing his amazing talent in that room. He then returned for an encore during God’s AMA…by Remember Yo Why!!!
